Let’s talk about canned wine, there I said it!  Are you aghast? Don’t be, its unbecoming.

For a product that is meant for enjoyment with food, family, and friends, it sure does stir up judgement and raised eyebrows.

There’s something special about popping a cork, but our drinking experiences don’t always have to be special-It’s about fun, being casual, and most importantly enjoying wine without pretense.

Yes, wine in a can be hit or miss when it comes to quality but, so can wine in a bottle. There are very good quality canned wines, not to collect, or age but to simply enjoy in the moment. Canned wine is typically light, easy to drink and almost always refreshing.

Wine in a can is for everyone because this style of wine has a time and place. Time and place may not be an upscale restaurant but perfect on your back patio on a summer day, at the beach, on a boat, a picnic, hiking or camping.

It’s a great idea to invite this style of wine into your casual, playful circumstances, and if after reading this, you are still clutching tightly to the neck of your wine bottle, consider relaxing your grip.

I would love your thoughts on wine in a can. Leave me a comment or drop me a line.

  • I have a can of wine in the garage fridge and It has been staring at me for the last few months and waiting for it’s moment. I’m not sure how it got there…

I’ll have to give it a go.

  • Looking forward to reading.

  • Velva, congratulations on your new blog!! Could not be any happier for you!! And it will be a true pleasure to sit back and read something positive, and inspiring!
Thank you for all your hard work in putting this together!

  • A good wine is the wine you like….so TRUE with wine and many other things in life.
Congratulations on your new blog, Velva!

  • Your redesign is lovely! Congratulations!

  • Don’t think I’ve ever had wine from a can, but for light and refreshing, I always mix my merlot or cabernet with Fresca, and I didn’t care who sees me do it, I like red wine over ice.

  • Looks so professional, it’s beautiful and I look forward to seeing more posts. Congratulations!!!!

  • Love the new look of your blog and really user friendly. What wine in the can have you tried and recommend?

  • I saw this the last time we were in Arizona, I don’t think they’ve hit our LCBOs but I haven’t been in one in a couple of years (my husband’s the booze shopper). Unfortunately, most of the European wines are sold with screw-tops so popping a cork hasn’t been a thing for some time. Fortunately, in Spain, our favourites still have corks (real ones!). But I must admit, the cans definitely take the dazzle out. I don’t even like drinking wine out of a plastic cup! I’ll pass on the cans.

  • I think it’s a great idea! Whenever we entertain, we have loads of half-empty wine bottles. I end up dumping them out after a week.
