Welcome to Sunday Supper
PUBLISHED ON: 11.14.2010
Can you tell the weather is stunning? I almost cannot contain myself. The days are warm and the evenings are cool. Wow!
I have been getting some ribbing from my northern friends who cannot fathom the idea that anyone in Florida would ever need a fire place. Worse, to have one built into your home. I am guilty on both counts. I live in the northwest part of Florida known as the Panhandle. In North Florida we do not have a tropical climate which secures 85 degrees in the summer with a breeze. Ours is more like 100 degrees, and you cut the air with a knife, the humidity is so thick, the air is stagnant. However, come Autumn our temps are mild. Days are often warm and nights are cool. Some mornings have already been down right chilly. We have woken up to the 30’s and this my friends is when I turn on the gas fireplace ( I can hear the chuckles already about the gas fireplace).
No recipes today, just a few photographs from our weekly supper gathering.

It's been lovely here on the gulf coast of south Florida also. Cool in the mornings too. I can't get over how much cooler it is in the mornings on this coast than it is on the east coast. Not sure if that's normal or not.Love your Sunday supper idea. Please pass that delicious Caesar salad.Sam

\”Wine, salad and pasta-It does not get any better\”, totally agree. Also nice you listed the most important ingredient first!–Andy

Yes our weather here in southwest Florida is picture perfect…low 80s in the day 60s at night. I would like it with a little more humidity though, it's been so dry for us! One nice thing is we never reach 100 on the coast here. Your supper looks lovely, I like that zucchini keep on giving. Good wine, good food, good friends, good weather….sounds like a winning combination to me.

Great looking dinner! The weather has been beautiful here in NY, too! We're grilling dinner again tonight! Looks like a lovely gathering, and perfect weather, doesn't get better than that 🙂

As usual, your photos look like you work for Bon Appetite or a fancy foodie magazine. Lovely….the presentaion and the dishes..I totally get you about northerners thinking, a cold snap here..really? I am from Philly originally but I can tell you – the blood thins living down here!

Your Sunuday supper sings. Your weather sings. But I am not in the mood to talk about weather.

What a delicious dinner! I love pasta, salad and of course the wine! 🙂 I think if I lived in your area, I would so turn on that fireplace when the nights cooled off. The fireplace is my favorite part of our long, cold winters in the midwest.

My sister lives in Leesburg and my niece lives in Mt. Dora. They both have fireplaces and use them. Personally, I like four definite seasons and prefer fall, winter and spring over summer. Pasta and salad sounds perfect no matter what the weather!Best,Bonnie

Our weather has been gorgeous, too, but is changing, today. Love your Sunday suppers! The salad looks so fresh and the pasta looks divine! Love that tablecloth, too! I have one that is very similar, that I got at World Market. Cheers!

Northern Florida is a LOT different weather-wise from Southern Florida. And I know when you say \”Florida\” everyone naturally thinks warm. You have some hard freezes up there in the Panhandle! And there are even times I wish I had a fireplace!!

Our weather is pretty nice year around where I live here in Southern California without the humidity. Of course we do have to deal with the earthquakes! 🙂

I do think a fireplace is warranted at 30 degrees..lol Although, that is mild compared to the temps we will be facing soon up north.Your Sunday dinner looks so inviting, and that pasta dish with zucchini looks delicious. Thanks for asking me about Sunday dinner. Sorry, I have not responded. Craziness here as usual. I will e.mail you soon:)

No it does not get much better! Can't wait to see what heartier pastas you make when it's colder though. I'm actually thinking about mixing things up and doing an Italian Christmas Eve dinner with pasta… Hard to beat!

Lots of good food for the Sunday gathering!

I wish I lived in Florida! That looks like a lovely meal for a great-weather day.

Velva, I love the texture of rigatoni pasta and think it's a great choice for a vegetarian dinner as it is so satisfying. I'm glad to see you serving a vegetarian meal too. Not because I am one or have any strong feelings about it but more because when I mention to other moms that a good way to save money is to make a vegetarian meal once a week, they balk and say their family can't go without meat. All hail the fireplace, wherever a chill may be! Mm…..wood smell!
Mimi
I have to laugh, I live in San Diego with a climate similar to Florida's- winter day temps in the 70's and night time rarely below 32 and we moved into a house that had four fireplaces. I think the architect was a frustrated northerner. As for your Sunday supers, the are always so inspiring.Mimi
Emma
Wow, I made a pasta dish which looks very similar to yours the other day!I also live in a hot climate, I would love to have a fireplace though!
Tiffanee
I am envying your weather and drooling over that dinner!! Yum. Would love the recipe for that pasta dish. It looks amazing!!
