Fresh Summer Blackberry Margaritas
PUBLISHED ON: 07.28.2011
Why not start the evening with an ice cold blackberry margarita?
Fresh summer blackberries mixed with lime and tequila. Cocktails don’t get better than this in the summertime.
Recipe from Cooking Light
Combine 1-1/2 tablespoons granulated sugar and 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt in a dish. Cut 1 lime into 9 wedges; rub rims of 8 glasses with 1 lime wedge.
Dip rims of glasses in salt mixture. Combine 1 cup water and 1/2 cup sugar in a microwave safe glass measuring cup. Microwave at HIGH 2-1/2 minutes, stirring to dissolve sugar; cool.
Combine syrup, 1 cup 100% agave blanco tequila, 3/4 cup Grand Mariner, 2/3 cup fresh lime juice, and 12 ounces fresh blackberries in a blender; process until smooth.
Strain mixture through a cheesecloth-lined sieve over a pitcher; discard solids. Serve over ice.
Garnish with remaining lime wedges.

Margaritas are my favorite drink and I've made strawberry, peach, and mango, but never considered berries – I'll have to try this or some of our blueberries

Oh! That is a breathtakingly pretty drink. I'm not a huge fan of blackberries, but to make a drink that lovely color, I might try this.

Oh I like the sound of this cocktail and the roasted tomato soup are today's favourites. Sorry I have not left many comments recently, it is hard to keep up with all my blogging friends. I do see all your posts in my reader though. Take Care.
I swear, Velva, one day you're going to answer your door around 5 PM and it's going to be me…coming for a drink!
Interesting way to make a margarita blending it all with the booze and then straining…wonder how much precious tequila you lose in the cheesecloth and pips? Haha! Velva, we invented a fabu tamarind drink with tequila…will let you know next month when I post the recipes from the cooking club. (first theme: tamarind) I love margaritas in all forms….so, si, mami, gracias! Have a great weekend!

wow love it and what a wonderful color
This looks like the perfect drink for me to have tonight! Can't wait to mix it up.
Why do you have to strain it? ha ha, just kidding I don't like seeds and pits in my drink. I still remember the painful lesson I learned the first time I made a blackberry bbq sauce.
Making this tonight! LOVE this!
